The small factory at Limehouse, on the banks of the Thames just to the east of the Tower of London, was one of the pioneers of English porcelain manufacture. Its years of operation were from 1745-1748.

It has only been possible to identify Limehouse porcelain since 1989, when the Museum of London Archaeology Service (MoLAS) excavated the site and found wasters and fragments, all in plain white or with underglaze blue. For further details see Kieron Tyler et al The Limehouse porcelain manufactory Excavations at 108-116 Narrow Street, London 1990 MoLAS Monography 6 (2000) London: The Museum of London The English Ceramic Circle and the Museum of London Limehouse Ware Revealed (1993) The English Ceramic Circle The Vauxhall China Works were established by the partners Nicholas Crisp, a jeweller, and John Sanders, a delftware potter, in about 1751, near the delftware potteries in Lambeth. The factory produced a great variety of wares, including blue and white tea wares, polychrome transfer printed wares, and some figures. The factory was sold in 1764. A pottery at Isleworth in West London was opened in 1757 by a potter from Worcester, Joseph Shore. This factory made blue and white porcelain from about 1765 to 1795, and also produced slipwares and red stonewares.
